Seal gaps immediately! Stopping access to roaches!

There are many species of roaches, all of which are considered to be a nuisance. There is certainly one hard and fast cockroach fact, however; you need to get rid of them as quickly as possible before they take over. Some of the different types of cockroaches include the American cockroach, Oriental cockroach, Smoky Brown cockroach, and the Australian cockroach. The most common variety, however, is the German cockroach.

Three Cockroach Facts

There are three basic cockroach facts you can take as rules of thumb in dealing with these annoying and disgusting nuisances.

Roaches Hide Almost Everywhere

Without proper household maintenance, you can find roaches almost anywhere inside your home. They hide inside the cracks in the walls, on the baseboards, and in the kitchen cupboards. They love dark places and make those hidden spaces their breeding grounds. Roaches can be health hazards so roach pesticides should be a standard part of your household insecticide arsenal.

Cockroaches Eat Almost Everything

Roaches crawl over their food before they consume it. They eat coffee grinds, fabric, soap, and even shoes. Any kind of leftovers on the counter will be esp ecially attractive to them so keeping any foodstuffs contained is a key part of control measures. (That includes your pet's food.)

Cockroaches Carry Diseases

Cockroaches can trigger asthma attacks, allergies, and other bronchial diseases in humans. If you are prone to any of these conditions, you should take steps to make sure these pests are in no way welcome in your home. Store all your food in sealed containers. Rinse all food containers well, even if you plan to throw them away. Investigate natural roach control methods and organic cockroach control methods that you can use in your home on a long term basis.

The Different Ways to Control Cockroaches

Since mankind's war with the cockroach has been going on for centuries, it isn't surprising that there are multiple methods for roach control.

Gecko Roach Control

The natural approach to dealing with an infestation includes gecko roach control. Geckos are small lizards that feed on cockroaches. All you have to do is turn geckos lo ose in your home and let them do what they do naturally. (Of course if you have pets, especially cats, this isn't going to work for you.)
