The Ideal Products Used for Rodent Pest Control

There are several different kinds of rodent pest control products available for successful rodent elimination. Some examples of these products are:

Electronic Rodent Repellants

These devices use ultrasonic sound waves to chase away unwanted pests from your premises. These devices can be used indoors and outdoors and the ultrasonic sound waves cannot be heard by human beings.

Trapper Glue Boards

Trapper glue boards are not an effective way of trapping the animals but can be used if you do not want to use any chemical products. These boards are placed near places where rats and mice have been sighted. They must be checked daily. If an animal has been trapped on a board the animal has to be removed and set free in a location far enough away from the property that it will not return.

Rat Zapper

The rat or mouse zapper is a battery powered electronic device that kills animals with an electric shock. These devices are often not effective and cruel to use as the shock usually do not kill the animal with one shock.

Rodent Control Methods

Effective rodent control is a combination of clean-up and maintenance strategies; capturing or killing the animals themselves; and taking steps to prevent their return to the effected area.

Cleanup

Floors in the house should be swept often and vacuuming should be done on a regular basis. If you notice any rodent droppings around the house you will need to clean up the droppings with a bleach solution to make sure that the area is appropriately sanitized.

Trapping

Traps or electronic rodent repellants should be placed along walls and in paths where rodents travel. Use electronic pest control devices to keep rodents away from your home. Consider alternative ways to keep mice and rats away with natural repellents or by getti ng a cat or one of the canine species also skilled in hunting rodents. (Most small terriers are good for this purpose.)

Rodent Proofing

Regularly inspect your premises and locate openings in walls that rodents can use to enter the home. Repair cracks and openings in walls as soon as you detect them. If your property has a history of rodent related issues, you may want to keep bait or traps out but do so with great caution of children and pets are present.

Chemical Control of Rodents

You can consider using anticoagulant rodenticides. This type of pest control is spread around the house, usually in the shape of granules and eaten by the rodents. This is not a pleasant or particularly humane way to deal with the pests and can be potentially dangerous to children and pets living in the home. Fumigation can be used to get rid of rodents in confined areas and is the method most often used in or near nests or through cracks in walls where rodents live.

Precautions when Using Rodent Control Measures

Always use gloves when handling any chemical pest control products and when handling any animals, dead or alive. Rodent control is often best left to professionals as something as simple as mice control almost always proves to be a difficult problem to solve.
