Use squirrel traps to prevent squirrel entry

Traps should be placed conveniently where squirrels mostly run around. Determine the common squirrel paths. Place your traps on those places. You can also choose to put
the traps on trees and rooftops so as to produce a good squirrel control garden. Use shelled corn of sunflower seeds as bait. You will find different varieties of traps, with "live" traps being the preferred option for most homeowners who simply want the animals to go away. You can probably release any squirrels you catch in the local park, but you may want to check with your city office to see if there are special rules governing the release of such captured "varmints."

Chemical Repellants

Chemical squirrel repellents are advisable if what you have is a fairly large garden with extensive squirrel infestation. These are solutions that are usually sprayed over the garden and vegetation. Always read the label before you use these products. You might produce more problems in your garden if you don't.

Electric Fence or Netting

To effectively ward away squirrels rather easily, you can try to enclose your garden with a strong, sturdy fence. The fence should also emit a relatively low electrical voltage so that squirrels will feel some jolt once they attempt to cross your fence. Once the feel danger on crossing the fence, they won't continue invading your garden. (Note that in some cities and states it is illegal to electrify a fence. Check local and state laws before proceeding.)

Ultrasonic Squirrel Control

The ultrasonic devices used for squirrel control emit high-frequency sound waves falling within the range of around 32 to 62 kHz, which is inaudible to human ears but annoying to rodents. These devices are most effective in closed in spaces like attics where the animals can only escape from the sound by leaving the area. Bear in mind that you may have to leave the device running full time to deter particularly persistent squirrels.

Squirrels may be cute and cuddly. Some peop le even take them in as pets. But if you have a garden, they are nothing but pests that can rapidly clean out your fruits and vegetables. Squirrel control is not easy because the animals are clever and learn quickly but be comforted by the fact that there are many repellants and squirrel traps available and some combination will work in your yard and garden.
